Graduate Degree Plan (GDP)/GPAS Planner

Graduate Degree Plan (GDP)

Those admitted prior to Fall 2019 need to submit a Graduate Degree Plan (GDP) by October 15 of their second year. The student will put together their coursework and fill out the Graduate Degree Plan form (GDP) with their advisor. If you have a designated minor, you will also need to consult with the DGS of that program concerning the courses for the minor.

When you have draft of the form ready, email the pdf or bring a printout of it to the GPC who checks it and then returns it to you. If there were any changes that needed to be made, revise the form and then get your advisor’s signature (and the DGS of the minor field if you have a designated minor), then give it back to the GPC (320 Folwell) who will send it on. It can take up to a month (sometimes more) before your GDP gets into the system, so do not put it off to the last minute.

Guidelines

For M.A. and Ph.D. students:

  • Only graduate-level courses should be included on the form (5xxx and 8xxx courses; specific 4xxx courses).
  • 4xxx-level language courses should NOT be included.

For M.A. students:

  • Not every course you take needs to be part of your M.A. program. If you decide to go on to the Ph.D. and are admitted, you may use any extra courses for your Ph.D. program.
  • Leave the "Language Requirement" box blank on the M.A. program form.

Graduate Planning and Audit System (GPAS) Planner

Those admitted Fall 2019 and after need to submit their Graduate Planning and Audit System (GPAS) Planner by October 30 of their second year. First, the student will put together their coursework (completed, current, and future) and submit it to the GPC for approval. Once approved, they will enter their future coursework into their GPAS Planner. A submitted Planner notifies all required signatories.
